Links

Deciding what to include on a page of links is really hard.

Writing related sites:
  • Coteau Books - scheduled to publish my YA novel, Run Like Jäger.
  • Writing-World.com - a how-to resource for writers, with essays addressing a wide range of topics for writers at all levels of experience.
  • Bartleby.com - a great collection of reference sources in one handy site.
  • YABS - the Young Alberta Book Society.

Blogs I like to read:
  • My LiveJournal friends, (as listed under "friends" -- what a surprise) many of whom are published authors or are working toward publication
  • Justine Larbalestier - the Australian YA writer of the Magic or Madness trilogy. Very entertaining.
  • Nathan Bransford - this literary agent starts a lot of interesting writing discussions and gives a lot of advice along the way. A 'should-read', especially if you're looking for an agent.
  • Author! Author! - Another great resource for writers looking to improve their writing or to get published. Take a look at the category listings in the right column -- very comprehensive.

Some Canadian YA writers I enjoy reading (not a comprehensive list):

Other:
  • Flickr - from time to time I post pictures over at Flickr, usually of places I've recently visited, sometimes of things that simply caught my eye.
  • BBC news - where I go for my daily dose of international news.
